MOBILE MEDICINE
SYNOPSIS
Now a day’s high technology usage is more in the medical
domain also. Already, we have very successful equipment for test, surgery and
many more.
But there is a need to get information about disease,
drugs, drugs alternative and many queries remotely at the time when we are not
able to reach the hospital, clinic.
We present our system implementation to handle drug
information related query interaction in natural language via SMS.
We identify various classes into which drug
information questions can be broken and pass the query through various modules
to retrieve answers from the drug knowledge sources.
Hence, there is no
need to obtain or install and learn new system to provide a complete solution
for questions about medicines and their attributes.
In this project, we implement SMS handling, stop word
removal Abbreviation Expander, Stemming techniques.
INTRODUCTION
Text messaging is one of the most utilized
forms of electronic communication. Cheap phones with limited capabilities are
often restricted to voice calls and SMS. Short Message Service, or text
messaging is a major communication system worldwide; more than 6 billion mobile
messages are sent daily. Text messaging is utilized in health and medicine.
Reported medical applications include: medication reminders for asthma,
diabetes and other patients requiring chronic medication intake, prescription
refills, appointment reminders, smoking cessation programs and dispensing
medical advice. It is also for informal consultations with medical colleagues.
To answer drug information questions efforts
have been made to make printed as well as online drug information available to
medical professionals and patients. In the case of online drug information
sites a list of all drugs is provided from which user can choose the required
drug and get the information provided for that drug for his/her reference. Our
efforts in this system we will provide access to this relevant resource through
SMS. We developed a text messaging system for processing incoming SMS queries,
retrieving answers from a comprehensive database and sending them back to the
user in the text message format. The usability of such a system is likely to be
very high as the users only need to know the mobile number of the server. There
is no need to obtain, install and learn new software. Moreover sending SMS is
cheap.
